Questions, Answered!

How will this help my students expand their vocabulary?

These activities are fun - so you can use them in that way. They are a treat! And while your kids are having fun, they are also easily extending their vocabulary - without any drudgery. You will be giving them the tools they need to write more precisely and with sparkle.

How can I use these activities in a differentiated way?

There are two versions of each puzzle so you can differentiate between students who may be learning these words for the first time and students for whom this can be used as a vocabulary review or bonus challenge. It's why the resource is tagged grades 4 through 8.

The easy version is a simple word search with a word bank of words to find; in the difficult version, the student is only given one word and must figure out the word bank as well. In both versions, after the student has found and circled all the words, the remaining letters will spell out the answer to a punny riddle related to the topic word.

They look nearly the same except for the difference in functionality.

What are the synonyms and antonyms covered?

There are five sets in this edition:

"big / little"

"happy/sad"

"good / bad"

"easy/hard"

"young/old"
